Kannegieser Claims Senior Women's Amateur Title

Sep 9, 2021

What a grand day of competition in the Championship round of the Maine Senior Women’s Amateur! Congratulations to the 2021 champion, Kristin Kannegeiser, who fired rounds of 75-77--152 at Augusta CC to best the field by four strokes in the inaugural two-day event. In years past this was just a one day competition, but this year saw the low 18 scorers from day one to advance to the final round.

Leslie Guenther managed to come from deeper in the pack to seize the runner-up title with a 78-78--156. Mary Brandes also shot an impressive 156, but lost the runner-up title in a match of cards.

A couple of other notable moments from today’s final round. “Rookie” Senior, Ruth Colucci, came in 7th in a strong field of 18 competitors. Sheila Brocki had a sweet Eagle on the 9th hole with a shot from about 100 yards out finding the cup. Finally, Liz Coffin made a strong charge at the lead with the best front nine of the day, shooting a 35 en route to a 4th place finish overall.
