Rodrigue, Trivilino Medalists at BSCC Qualifier
The field for the 102nd Maine Amateur Championship is one step closer to being finalized, as 26 golfers advanced to next month’s tournament at the first of three qualifying tournaments held at Biddeford-Saco CC today.
Players were treated to a respite from the recent heat wave that has encompassed Maine in the last week and had a perfect day to take on the very venue that hosted last year’s Maine Amateur. When the dust settled after today’s qualifier, Joshua Trivilino (York G&TC) and Dylan Rodrigue (Belgrade Lakes GC) were the co-medalists, shooting 73 to lead all scorers.
The full field of 102 players were competing for 26 spots in today’s qualifier. The cut fell at 79, with a match of cards used to determine the final qualifying spot, which went to Riverside’s Blake Cunningham.
Next week the MSGA will conduct the final two qualifiers for the state’s most prestigious amateur championship, slated to be played at Kebo Valley on July 13-15. Both qualifiers next week, at Fox Ridge GC on Tuesday and Bangor Municipal on Thursday, will also feature full fields of 102 players vying for 26 spots at each site to earn a berth in the field in Bar Harbor next month.
