Hanscom Medalist at Bangor Muni Qualifier
BANGOR – After four qualifiers across the state over the last two weeks, the field for the 2020 Maine Amateur Championship is set. The field of 132 players who will tee it up at the 101st playing of the Amateur will consist of 53 exempt players that will be joined by the 79 golfers who made it through the qualifying events.
In today’s final qualifier, 63 players were competing at Bangor Municipal GC for the final 16 spots available in the championship. Thomas Hanscom of nearby Penobscot Valley CC led all scorers with a score of 69 (-2). Max Woodman of Barnes Brook GC was the only other player to break par at Bangor, making an eagle on the 18th hole to shoot 70. Percy Zentz (Island CC) and Jon Humphrey (Presque Isle CC) rounded out the top three with rounds of 72.
The Maine Amateur Championship will be contested at Biddeford-Saco CC on July 7-9 where Cole Anderson will look to defend his title from last year.
