Witt Leads All Scorers at Willowdale Qualifier
SCARBOROUGH – The first of four qualifiers for the 2020 Maine Amateur Championship is in the books, with 21 golfers booking their ticket to the championship proper at Biddeford-Saco CC on July 7-9. John Witt (Cape Arundel GC) was the medalist at today’s qualifier at Willowdale GC, beating all scorers with an even-par 70. Witt used four birdies against four bogeys to lead all players advancing to the 101st playing of the Maine Amateur Championship.
Brunswick GC’s Brown Martin was next best with 71, followed by Patrick Bucklin (Falmouth CC) and Tobey Buteau (Willowdale GC) at 72. The cut for the qualifier fell at 77, with Brandon Wohl (Val Halla GC) earning the last spot in the field on a match of cards.
Qualifying for the Maine Amateur Championship continues on June 11 with the second of four qualifiers at Brunswick GC.
