Junior Golf Opportunities in 2019
With spring now in sight, it's time to start planning for your child's upcoming golf season. Lucky for those of us in Maine, there are ample opportunities to have fun on the golf course throughout the season. Below is a brief description of the various leagues and competitions available to junior golfers here in the Pine Tree State. The Maine Junior Golf Tour, now administered by the New England PGA, is off and running. Membership registration opened March 1st, and tournament registration went live on March 15th.
The Maine PGA Junior Tour is open to all boys and girls ages 9-21 who reside in Maine or are members of a Maine golf course. Tournaments take place from June to August all around the state.
The USGA, Masters Tournament and the PGA of America have officially launched the seventh year of Drive, Chip and Putt by announcing the local and subregional schedule for the 2019-2020 qualifying season. Registration is now open, so don't wait to sign your child up!
The schedule includes dates and locations for participants to play in local qualifiers across the country, with the opportunity to advance and earn an invitation to next year’s National Finals at Augusta National Golf Club.
Maine is thrilled to be hosting a local qualifier again in 2019, scheduled for June 1 at Val Halla GC in Cumberland. Interested parties should visit the DCP site for complete information on this wonderful junior golf initiative by the game's governing bodies.
PGA Jr. League is changing the way golf is learned and played through its fun, team-oriented approach. Boys and girls of all skill levels learn and play the game with expert coaching and guidance from PGA Professional Captains, wear numbered jerseys, and compete on teams with friends in a two-person scramble format that encourages mentorship and builds confidence.
U.S. Kids Golf offers all the resources a parent needs to introduce the game to the beginning golfer and provides curriculum and tools a teaching professional needs to engage students and parents.
