Women's Tri-State Results: Maine 2nd
The New Hampshire womenís TriState team breezed to the 2018 championship at Rochester Country Club on Wednesday, June 20. Final scores were NH 166, ME 123, VT 116.
After the alternate shot round on Tuesday, New Hampshire led Vermont by 15 points, and Maine trailed behind in third. Vicki Lindquist and Susie Gravel, Sue Coffin and Birdie Pearse, and the mother-daughter team of Heidi and Ruby Haylock were the teamís top point getters with 5, 4.5, and 4 points per pair.
Maine stepped up its game on Wednesday during the individual matches. Captain Birdie Pearse, who led by example, and Diane Herring garnered perfect scores of 6 points each and were followed closely by Kristin Kannegieser and Sue Wootton, who each recorded 5 points. Unable to catch New Hampshire, Maine overtook Vermont to capture second place.
Playing out of her division, eleven-year-old Jade Haylock subbed in for sister Ruby on the final day of play and came away with 1.5 points against stiff competition in Division 2.
