The Maine State Golf Association Scholarship Fund Committee is pleased to announce thirteen new scholarship awards of $1,100 each for the 2010-2011 academic year. The MSGA Scholarship is renewable on good academic standing for a maximum of four years of undergraduate study.
The Scholarship Fund has been in existence since 1950, and is intended for Maine young people of good character who show an active participation in golf as a player or employee, with demonstrated financial need and a strong record of academic achievement.
The MSGA, its member clubs, and its member players are proud to commit more than $40,000 each year to scholarships.
The new MSGA Scholars are:
Brian Angis of Saco, son of Lori Angis;
Aaron Bailey of York, son of Ed and Heidi Bailey;
Aidan Boyce of South Portland, son of Timothy and Denise Boyce;
Mathew Brown of Charleston, son of Philip and Teri Brown;
Anthony Canarie of South Portland, son of J. David Canarie Jr. and Pamela Koonz Canarie;
Michael Crockett, Jr. of Camden, son of Michael Crockett and Nicole Crockett;
Henry Fall of Harpswell, son of William Fall and Alane Downs;
Kerri Grant of Cumberland, daughter of Scott Grant and Ellen Grant;
Kent Hersom of Edgecomb, son of Troy and Sandi Hersom;
Nikkolas Libbey of Lincoln, son of Bert and Leslie Libbey;
Brittney Robinson of Kingfield, daughter of Philip and Mary Robinson;
Dylan Tibbetts of Bar Harbor, son of Ronnie and Vicki Tibbetts.
Zachary Sweet of Madison, son of Dan and Kim Sweet; Zach is the recipient of the Winchenbach Award as the top scholar among the new recipients.
In addition, the Committee has selected Hannah Roberts of Sidney for a one time award of $500 in recognition of her family’s contributions to golf in Maine. Hannah is the daughter of Donald and Anne Roberts.
