Maine Amateur Championship practice round and hotel information

One of the nation's oldest golf courses will play host to the Maine Amateur Championship on July 6-8. Kebo Valley in Bar Harbor will welcome a field of 129 players vying for the chance to be one of 40 players plus ties to advance to Thursday's final round.

Defending Amateur Champion Jesse Spiers of Bangor will not return to Maine to defend his title this year, as he has turned pro, but Eric Crouse, who won the event the last time it was contested at Kebo in 1998 will be one of the players in the field, as will the 2008 Maine Amateur Champion Ryan Gay.

Kebo Valley will be offering practice rounds to players who have qualified or are exempt, any time in the month of June or on July 5th. Players will be able to play one time for $15 and no discounted practice rounds may be scheduled for July 1-4. Players who need to play on these days will have to pay the full fee. To reserve your practice round, please call the Kebo Valley Pro Shop at 288-3000 ext. 1 up to seven days in advance of the date requestedand identify yourself as a Maine Amateur participant. Fee reductions will be available for players only.  Players are responsible for their own cart fees. Players can expect to be paired up with other competitors for the practice round. Any competitor desiring to play more than one practice round will be allowed to do so at full price.

Players are responsible for their own housing arrangements, and there are several hotels in the area that may be able to accommodate you. For a complete list of available facilities, click here.

Kebo Valley will be hosting a player's reception after the completion of play on Tuesday, and all players are invited to attend. In addition, the club will host the ever-popular long drive contest from in front of the clubhouse, among other activities. Kebo will also be compiling a list of area attractions for players wishing to make a family vacation out of the trip. They're working hard to welcome the state's top golfers to their beautiful, classic club.
