NH Wins 2017 Tri-State Matches

Sep 17, 2017

For the fourth straight year, the team from New Hampshire came out on top in the annual Tri-States matches over Maine and Vermont. Maine made a run in the middle of Sunday's singles matches, but in the end the team from the Granite State proved too tough to catch.

The event featured alternate shot matches on Satuday and singles matches on Sunday, with each state competing concurrently against the other two states. In the end, New Hampshire won the event with 28 points, with Maine in second on 21 and Vermont on 14.

Thanks to the players and people at the NHGA and VGA for a great competition and even better camaraderie among the three states.

The MSGA is proud to announce the players that will represent the Pine Tree State in the upcoming 2017 Tri-State Matches. The annual event pits the top players from the three northern New England states against each other in a competitive Ryder Cup style event over 36 holes. This year is New Hampshire's turn to host, and they will host the matches at the venerable Mt. Washington Resort GC, a classic Donald Ross design fresh off of a recent restoration.

Each state sends 14 players to compete, with 10 "regular" players and 4 "senior" players. Maine's team is merit-based, as all 14 players earn their spots via year-long points competitions. The event will feature a practice round Friday, followed by foursomes (alternate shot) on Saturday and singles matches on Sunday.
