The 2012 Maine Junior Championship wrapped up this afternoon at the Val Halla Golf Course in Cumberland. Players enjoyed two days of pleasant weather to compete in five divisions for the title of Junior Champion of the year. In all, 118 players teed it up this week, marking the strongest field in years.
If the names of the winners of the Boys 15-17 and Girls 15-17 flight seem familiar it's for good reason--not only were Austen Truslow and Meghan Flanigan the overnight leaders, but both also managed to successfully defend their titles from last year. Truslow, of the Tarratine Club, continued his torrid pace set yesterday, following up his opening-round 68 with a 67 for an incredible two day total of 135. Flanigan, from Pittsfield, held off Alice Hwang to win the flight with a score of 83-90--173.

In the younger divisions, Matt Caron of Nonesuch River beat Robbie Watson by a few shots to win the Boys 13-14 with scores of 80-78--158. Erin Holmes, from the host club Val Halla, won the Girls 13-14 flight with scores of 108-103--211.
And lastly, playing 18 holes over two days, Jonathan Rodenbush of Cape Neddick won the 12 and under title with 44-46--90 to win by three shots.

The MSGA would like to thank the Junior Tour sponsor Wendy's, prize donor Golf and Ski Warehouse, and host club Val Halla for making this event a success. For complete scoring results, see the links below.
