High School Individual Champions Crowned

During the summer months the MSGA runs a tournament schedule exclusively for junior golfers here in Maine. These events give the stateís young players a chance to play at some of the best courses while giving an opportunity to compete against others. The Maine High School Individual Championships were played this past weekend at Natanis GC, with each and every class title going to regular participants in the MSGA Junior program.

Playing on Natanisí Tomahawk Course, Class A was won by Camden Hillís Cole Anderson with a round of 73. He edged out Gorhamís Lucas Roop by one stroke. This win goes along with Andersonís title he claimed at the prestigious New England Junior Championship this summer, which he won with a three round score of ten under par to win by seven strokes.

In Class B, Eric Dugas of MCI won the individual title by four strokes with a score of 73. Finishing as runner-up was Freyburgís Tyler Worcester.

Class C was claimed for the third straight year by Mattanawcook Academyís Logan Thompson.  Playing on Natanisí Arrowhead Course, the defending Maine Junior Champion shot a blistering five-under 67. He won by eight strokes over Mitchell Tario from Kentís Hill.

In the Girls championship, also played on the Arrowhead Course, the title wasnít decided until the very last hole. In the end, Bailey Plourde (Lincoln Academy) and Erin Holmes (Greely) shared the honor as Schoolgirl champion after both carding rounds of 73.
