Final Round Notes
The third and final round of the 2016 New England Junior Amateur Invitation got underway at Cochecho CC in Dover, NH at 8:30 this morning. As the players took to the course a gale began to blow, setting the tone for this morningís round. The fairly short course showed its teeth as players battled the strong gusts. Cole Anderson followed up his stellar performance with yet another tremendous round. The Samoset Resortís own, fought hard for every shot and carded an even par 70. Again, Anderson turned in the lowest round of the day and earned himself the individual champion honors with a three round total of 10 under par. Caleb Manuel of Brunswick GC and Austin Legge of The Purpoodock Club both carded very solid rounds of 76. Lucas Roop of Sable Oaks GC contributed a 78 to the best 5 of 7 team score. Rounding out the five scores that counted for scoring was 2016 Junior Amateur Champion Logan Thompson, who played Cochecho CC in 79 strokes. The five scores made for a third round total of 379. Ryan Collins and Eric Dugas carded rounds of 83 and 82, respectively. Added to the previous dayís scores, the squad from Maine finished at 1106 strokes and in a solo finish for fourth place in the event. Congratulations are in order to the team for their efforts and to Cole Anderson for taking home the individual honors. Well done boys!
New England Junior Round 2 Recap
The afternoon session of the New England Junior Amateur Invitational concluded just as the rain started to fall at Cochecho CC in Dover, NH. The squad from Maine finished the day sitting in 4th place out of 6 teams. Like the morning session, the best 5 scores of the 7 man teams were used. The afternoon session saw much of the same for Cole Anderson. After missing a par putt on the 9th hole for a scorching 29 on the front side, Anderson carded his second 65 of the day. Back to back 65ís put him at -10 on his own ball after 36 holes. Brunswick GCís Caleb Manuel also matched his first round score by carding a second 72. Barnes Brook GCís Logan Thompson backed up his round one 75 with a 74 in the afternoon session. Lucas Roop turned things around in the afternoon and finished with a 75. Rounding out the five scores used was Ryan Collins from the Purpoodock Club. Collins bounced back with a solid 78, bringing the team total for the afternoon session to 364. Eric Dugas and Austin Legge both played Cochecho CC in 79 strokes. After two rounds the boys from Maine sit at 727 and are only five strokes back of third place Rhode Island.
The third and final round will begin at 8:30 Wednesday morning.
New England Junior Amateur Invitational Round One Recap
With the morning session completed, the Maine team heads into the afternoon sitting in 5th place with a team total of 363. The total of 363 has the boys 9 shots clear of Vermont and only two shots back of 4th place Connecticut. The best 5 scores out of 7 are counted for the team total. Cole Anderson, out of the Samoset Resort, paved the way for the Maine squad. Anderson finished in thrilling fashion with a birdie, followed by a hole out for eagle on his last to card a scorching 65. Andersonís 65 was the lowest score of the morning session. Brunswick GCís Caleb Manuel turned in a round of +2 over par, 72. Logan Thompson, 2016 Maine Junior Champion, played the par 70 Cochecho CC in 75 strokes. Purpoodock Clubís Austin Legge also carded a +5 over par 75. Rounding out the top 5 scores was JW Parkís Eric Dugas with a round of 76. Ryan Collinsí 82 and Lucas Roopís 79 were dropped in the morning session.

The 2016 New England Junior Amateur Invitational will be held on August 15-17 at Cochecho Country Club in Dover, New Hampshire. The event features the top seven junior golfers from each of the six New England states.
The tournament rotates between the six New England states annually and this year the New Hampshire Golf Association is hosting the event. The event features both an individual champion at the end of 54 holes, and a team title. One of the six New England states will take home the team title, which counts the best five of seven scores from each round.
