Growing Junior Golf in Maine

Together with the Maine PGA and The First Tee of Maine, the Southern Maine Women’s Golf Association, the Women’s Maine State Golf Association and the Maine Golf Course Superintendents Association, the Maine State Golf Association works to promote junior golf statewide.

We offer many events to introduce children – especially those who might not otherwise hear about the opportunities – to learn what we do. In the past we have hosted Junior Golf open houses and have attended the Kidaballoo in different locations across the state.

These events are designed to let juniors know all that Maine golf has to offer. Golfers aged 5-18 are invited to attend these events, with their parents, to determine which program are right for them. When possible we will partner with member clubs to showcase junior golf offerings.

At the open houses, juniors have opportunities to demo junior equipment and players can sign up for various programs, such as Drive, Chip and Putt, PGA Jr. League and/or MSGA Junior Tour events. Each junior golfer are given a membership into the MSGA Junior Program, and door prizes are offered to the first kids to sign up! In the past we have offered a goody bag which included such items as golf balls, discount coupons, Rules of Golf in brief and even a string bag with the Junior Golf Maine logo!

We encourage all golf clubs to share junior opportunities with us and we will spread the word! We have a comprehensive junior schedule along with an ever-growing email contact list of potential junior golfers. We welcome the opportunity to work together to make all junior programs successful.
